The team has been entrusted with the care of some of the most prominent green spaces in Australia’s capital city, and this apprenticeship is part of an exciting new stage of growth.

What the Apprenticeship Involves

This is a four-year apprenticeship in Parks & Gardens designed to build practical capability alongside formal learning. You will gain hands-on experience working with experienced trades professionals while also attending weekly classroom sessions to strengthen your technical understanding.

Learning Areas

• Identifying plants and carrying out their care and upkeep
• Designing and applying plant nutrition programs
• Managing pests and diseases
• Installing and maintaining irrigation systems
• Specialist work such as transplanting, pruning, and mowing
• Following safety procedures and using equipment correctly

What You Need to Bring

• A strong interest in starting a career in parks and gardens
• A dependable, punctual attitude and a willingness to develop new skills
• Reliability and commitment to learning
• A valid driver’s licence is preferred but not mandatory
• A National Police Check, or willingness to obtain one
• A Working with Vulnerable People Check, or willingness to obtain one
• A White Card, or willingness to obtain one
• Australian citizenship is required to meet the educational requirements for this role
