Position Overview
The Track Inspector is accountable for checking railway track, switches, and associated infrastructure, along with access roads and loading and unloading terminals, so that all structures remain fit and safe for train operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out efficient inspections of the track, switches, and related railway infrastructure.
- Document inspection outcomes, identify defects or unsafe conditions, and issue notifications where needed.
- Enter detected defects into the SAP asset management platform and raise work orders.
- Assess whether any section of line requires a speed restriction.
- Help maintain a safe workplace for all staff and contractors working within Etihad Rail.
- Ensure assets are maintained safely in line with the Operations JV Asset Management Strategy.
- Keep the supervisor informed about required track repairs and related follow-up actions.
- Attend meetings and speak on behalf of the Structure Engineer when instructed.
Academic Qualifications
A high school certificate or an equivalent qualification is required.
Professional Qualifications
- Demonstrated understanding of track inspection and ultrasonic testing.
- Knowledge of the relevant railway standards for the discipline.
- Valid full driving licence.
Experience
- Practical background in track maintenance.
- Ability to prepare inspection reports.
- Experience in heavy-haul railway maintenance is preferred.
Other Skills
- Strong English communication skills, either as a first language or at an advanced written and spoken level.
- Solid planning and organising ability.
- Good analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools.
- Capability to deliver assigned elements of a quality management system.
- Comfort working in a multicultural team environment.
