Role Summary
This is a full-time, on-site technician role focused on servicing agricultural machinery and related equipment at the workshop and at customer locations. The position calls for hands-on installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair work, along with routine checks to keep equipment operating safely and efficiently. The technician will also support service documentation, guide customers on correct machine usage, and work closely with sales and operations teams to ensure effective after-sales support.
Key Duties
- Install, service, and repair agricultural machinery and associated equipment.
- Identify mechanical faults and basic electrical issues through systematic diagnostics.
- Carry out preventive maintenance and routine inspections.
- Test machine performance after servicing to confirm functionality and safety.
- Ensure all repairs and maintenance work meet company quality and safety standards.
- Keep accurate records of services completed, parts used, and issues resolved.
- Advise customers on proper operation, care, and upkeep of equipment.
- Coordinate with sales and operations teams to support smooth delivery and post-sale service.
- Use tools, spare parts, and workshop resources responsibly and efficiently.
- Maintain an orderly, safe, and productive work environment.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Strong mechanical ability with experience handling agricultural, industrial, or heavy equipment.
- Ability to understand and work from technical manuals, schematics, and job instructions.
- Working knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems used in machinery.
- Skilled in the safe use of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Certificate or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Prior practical experience in a workshop, field service, or similar technician role is preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and a practical approach to solving equipment problems.
- High attention to detail, especially around safety, workmanship, and documentation.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well with colleagues and customers.
- Willingness to work in Nairobi and travel occasionally to customer sites when needed.
