Role overview
This part-time support role is based onsite in Gore, Southland, New Zealand, with weekend availability required. Shifts can include AM, PM, and sleepover coverage. Pay ranges from $24.68 to $30.13 per hour depending on relevant qualifications.
About the role
As a Support Worker, you will help people with intellectual disabilities live meaningful, active lives in their homes and communities. The position calls for a creative approach so each day is engaging, supportive, and worthwhile for the people you assist.
Key duties
- Support people to build everyday living skills, including using public transport and preparing meals.
- Help with personal care and daily routines such as showering, dressing, and taking medication.
- Encourage individuals to pursue their interests, hobbies, and personal goals.
- Promote healthy choices and overall wellbeing.
- Help strengthen relationships with whānau and the wider community.
What you should bring
- Experience supporting people with intellectual disabilities.
- Willingness to work flexible shifts, including weekends and sleepovers.
- Confidence using computers and tablets as part of daily work.
- Good written and spoken communication skills.
- The physical ability to provide hands-on support when needed.
- A full New Zealand driver licence.
