Descrição da vaga

Overview

Creditsafe is growing its Consumer Bureau initiative, a new programme focused on moving into the consumer credit bureau market in the UK and, over time, becoming a consumer reporting agency. They are hiring a mid-level Quality Engineer with strong experience in testing cloud-native software and data-driven platforms.

The company is privately owned and operates with a culture built around customer focus, trust, respect, and a willingness to experiment. With a distributed workforce across 25 offices in 14 countries, Creditsafe emphasizes teamwork, learning, well-being, and inclusion. The business is one of the world’s most widely used providers of business data and serves 110,000 customers ranging from small businesses to large enterprises.

The Team

You will join an Agile group made up of software, data, and quality engineers working on two large-scale big data initiatives: one already in production and another in development. These systems handle hundreds of GB per day through large ELTL ingestion, person-centric matching, and batch plus near-real-time serving. The wider Quality Engineering community promotes quality across teams, shares expertise, and uses intelligent automation while encouraging critical thinking about product features.

Role Summary

As a Quality Engineer, you will help ensure the reliability and integrity of data solutions. You will work closely with engineering and product teams from the earliest design stages, contributing to test strategy and system design decisions. Your core focus will be testing data pipelines, APIs, and infrastructure to make sure solutions are scalable, accurate, and dependable.

This role is hybrid, with office attendance required for 50% of the working week.

Responsibilities

  • Take part in quality planning from the start of development so that testing influences design and delivery decisions early.
  • Create and maintain automated checks for complex data pipelines, covering data accuracy, integrity, and throughput from ingestion through delivery.
  • Validate APIs for performance and reliability under a range of conditions.
  • Check data quality across multiple systems and stores such as Redshift, S3, Aurora, Postgres, and DynamoDB.
  • Drive test automation using Python and PyTest, and connect automated tests into continuous testing workflows.
  • Partner with data engineers, developers, and product owners to understand data movement and business requirements, then verify that features are fully tested before release.
  • Investigate failures in pipelines and APIs, document findings clearly, and work with engineers to resolve issues.
  • Run performance testing to uncover bottlenecks and support system improvement.
  • Support a culture of learning and continuous improvement across the team.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated background in software testing, especially for data pipelines and APIs in complex environments.
  • Strong Python skills for building and maintaining automated tests.
  • Hands-on familiarity with AWS services, including tools such as Redshift, S3, and DynamoDB.
  • Ability to analyze complicated data flows and systems with a structured problem-solving mindset.
  • Experience creating and supporting automation frameworks that integrate with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Clear communication skills for explaining technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong collaboration skills and a willingness to improve design and quality practices with the wider team.
  • Prior experience mentoring junior engineers and helping lead testing efforts on challenging projects.

Perks & Benefits

  • Competitive pay package.
  • Company laptop provided.
  • Bonus scheme.
  • 25 days of annual leave plus bank holidays.
  • Hybrid working arrangement.
  • Healthcare and company pension.
  • Access to e-learning and career development resources.
  • Global company gatherings and events.
  • Additional benefits are available through the company careers page.

Why Work at Creditsafe

  • Clear progression structure where senior technical roles are genuine long-term destinations.
  • Design decisions are documented through written RFCs, with discussion happening in documents rather than meetings.
  • The team owns the systems it builds, including operational responsibility.
  • Agile delivery is practical and focused on shipping value rather than unnecessary process.
  • Customer value is the main priority, with stability, freshness, durability, and trust treated as essential.
  • Engineering leadership is hands-on, technical, and supportive.

Equal Opportunity

Creditsafe welcomes applicants from all backgrounds and is committed to an inclusive, supportive workplace. Reasonable assistance is available for candidates who need help with the application process.
