Role Summary
HungerStation is looking for an accomplished Software Engineering Manager to join the New Verticals domain. This role is suited to someone who enjoys creating impact, coaching engineers, and contributing in a fast-moving B2C setting.
What You Will Do
In this position, you will shape team direction, strengthen engineering execution, and help scale products and processes for HungerStation’s consumer-facing business.
- Set the direction for the team and help define the broader technical strategy for consumer products.
- Coach and support engineers so they can deliver dependable, scalable, and resilient services and features.
- Create a culture of ownership, agility, and individual growth within the team.
- Introduce and reinforce engineering standards such as TDD, CI/CD, and Agile ways of working to improve delivery and product quality.
- Partner with product management to run projects, coordinate stakeholders, build roadmaps, and oversee cost considerations.
- Contribute to architecture evolution and help improve key operational processes, including hiring and onboarding.
What You Need to Bring
The ideal candidate will have strong engineering leadership experience, a solid consumer-tech background, and the ability to guide teams while remaining hands-on when needed.
- At least 8 years of software engineering experience, including a minimum of 2 years leading a team.
- Strong background in B2C technology environments.
- A practical leadership style that blends guidance, inspiration, and execution.
- Ability to develop teams through coaching structures that balance speed, quality, and engagement.
- Comfort with Agile practices and a history of hiring strong international talent.
- Hands-on programming knowledge in Golang, Java, Ruby on Rails, Swift, or Kotlin.
- Good understanding of cloud-native and distributed systems.
- Deep familiarity with Domain-Driven Design, microservices, and building systems for scale.
- Experience working with PostgreSQL, MySQL, and NoSQL databases, including knowledge of their trade-offs.
- Ability to turn business KPIs into clear OKRs and manage priorities, timelines, and deliverables effectively.
- Strong problem-solving ability with sound judgment on frameworks and design approaches for technical and organizational challenges.
