Senior SAP ABAP Developer

Role Overview

We are hiring a seasoned Senior SAP ABAP Developer to contribute to SAP S/4HANA 2023 Greenfield delivery work. This position is based in Chennai and supports hybrid/remote working. The role is suited to a professional with deep SAP technical expertise, especially in modern ABAP development and large-scale implementation projects, ideally within automotive environments.

What You Will Do

• Take part in full-cycle SAP S/4HANA 2023 Greenfield implementation initiatives.
• Create, enhance, test, and deploy robust ABAP solutions that align with business needs.
• Work on Reports, Interfaces, Conversions, Enhancements, Forms, and Workflows (RICEFW).
• Develop and use OData services, CDS views, AMDP, and RAP-based applications.
• Design and improve APIs, IDocs, RFCs, BAPIs, and related integration components.
• Refactor custom code and tune developments to fit SAP S/4HANA standards.
• Partner with functional consultants and business teams to deliver scalable technical outcomes.
• Carry out technical design reviews, code reviews, and performance improvements.
• Investigate production issues and provide prompt technical assistance.
• Guide junior developers and help establish strong development practices.

What We Are Looking For

• 14 to 20 years of hands-on SAP ABAP development experience.
• Strong working knowledge of SAP S/4HANA 2023.
• Proven involvement in at least one Greenfield S/4HANA implementation project.
• Deep expertise in object-oriented ABAP, CDS views, AMDP, OData services, SAP Gateway, and RAP.
• Practical experience with Adobe Forms, SmartForms, and SAP Scripts.
• Working knowledge of enhancement frameworks, BADI, BTE, user exits, ALV reports, IDocs, BAPIs, RFCs, and proxy development.
• Experience in custom code migration and S/4HANA simplification activities.
• Strong SQL tuning and debugging capability.
• Experience integrating SAP Fiori with backend services.
• Good understanding of SAP authorization concepts and transport management.
• Exposure to the automotive domain is a strong advantage.
• Familiarity with SAP Activate, Agile/Scrum delivery, SAP BTP Extension Suite, CI/CD, and Git-enabled ABAP development is desirable.
• Strong analytical thinking, communication, stakeholder management, and mentoring abilities.
• Ability to work independently in a hybrid or remote delivery setup.
• Commitment to quality and timely delivery.
