Role overview

Behaviour Interactive is hiring a Senior Backend Programmer for an unannounced project. In this role, you will help shape the online systems that support gameplay, from early design through production release. You will build, refine, and support backend services that must remain fast, stable, and scalable for a live multiplayer environment.

What you will do

• Build new server-side features and improve the existing backend codebase.
• Prepare detailed technical documentation before implementation begins.
• Investigate bugs and operational issues to strengthen reliability and system performance.
• Work closely with other programmers to deliver server functionality that aligns with gameplay requirements.
• Plan and run functional tests as well as load testing scenarios.
• Keep optimizing code to support a live, high-availability multiplayer experience.

Required experience and technical profile

• At least 9 years of backend development experience, with strong knowledge of scalable system architecture.
• Proven experience building high-performance server applications with TypeScript and Node.js.
• Advanced command of REST and WebSocket communication patterns.
• Practical experience with both relational and NoSQL databases, including DynamoDB, MongoDB, and MySQL.
• Strong understanding of performance-focused data modeling and maintainable backend design.
• Experience performing load tests using distributed load generators.
• Ability to profile and tune backend systems across network, CPU, memory, and I/O layers.
