Role overview

Planned Parenthood Southeast is seeking a Security Specialist to help maintain a secure environment for staff, patients, visitors, and volunteers across the Metro Atlanta area. This role partners with security leadership to strengthen the organization’s security and emergency preparedness efforts, contribute to policy and operational improvements, support communications and training, and manage security intelligence tools, systems, databases, and protocols.

The position reports to the Sr. Director of Security and is classified as exempt. The salary range for this role is $67,000 to $72,000.

Key responsibilities

  • Work with the Sr. Director of Security to run Protective Intelligence and Threat Assessment programs, including threat reviews, stakeholder referral investigations, and proactive or reactive threat inquiries.
  • Oversee the full badge and access-control process, from issuance and assignment to tracking, maintenance, monitoring, and removal of access privileges and related equipment.
  • Track and safeguard security assets and materials such as HID credentials, access-control devices, security codes, and other controlled resources.
  • Respond to security questions and concerns from employees and users, including routine requests and urgent issues.
  • Create, coordinate, and deliver briefings and training on intelligence, safety, security, and emergency readiness, while keeping presentation and training materials current.
  • Draft, share, and explain incident reports, investigative results, and other security updates with internal teams, external partners, and law enforcement.
  • Help plan and support security for special events, large meetings, and organizational activities in coordination with Facilities and other departments.
  • Support emergency preparedness by maintaining disaster-response supplies and equipment and advising health centers and administrative offices on preparedness, emergency response, and continuity planning.
  • Perform open-source intelligence research, analyze findings, and prepare investigative reports with recommendations for stakeholders.
  • Watch camera and surveillance feeds, spot suspicious behavior, and trigger the proper response and reporting steps.
  • Identify, record, and escalate safety issues, security risks, policy breaches, errors, and near misses, while recommending corrective actions to reduce future risk.
  • Maintain protest-monitoring resources and intelligence tools to support situational awareness and risk analysis.
  • Assist with accreditation and regulatory compliance by helping with audits, keeping required records, tracking standards, and working with departments to maintain readiness.
  • Prepare reports, recommendations, and executive-level briefings for Security leadership on operations, incidents, risks, compliance, and program performance.
  • Follow PPSE’s Code of Conduct and maintain professionalism, ethics, integrity, confidentiality, and compliance with applicable laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Provide after-hours support when needed, including emergency response, incident activation, and company-sponsored events, with on-call availability as required.
  • Carry out additional duties assigned by the Sr. Director of Security and/or the VP of Facilities and Security from PPLA.

Qualifications and requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree, or comparable work experience, is preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience in security, law or law enforcement, investigative research, journalism, or a related field.
  • At least 1 year of program management experience is required.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to explain information clearly to different audiences.
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
