Role overview

The Scrum Master role at DOT Compliance Group is a facilitative, servant-leader position within the Information Technology department. Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, this person will help Agile delivery teams and support groups work together smoothly so they can deliver reliable, high-quality results.

This position is centered on improving team performance, speeding up delivery, and strengthening coordination across functions. It is not intended to operate as a conventional project management role; instead, it supports value delivery by reinforcing accountability, flow-based efficiency, and ongoing improvement.

Key responsibilities

  • Run core Scrum events such as daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews or demos, and retrospectives.
  • Encourage the team to follow Lean-Agile practices and principles.
  • Help teams define sprint objectives, keep scope clear, and stay accountable for commitments.
  • Oversee the technical support function by watching incoming work, prioritizing requests, maintaining visibility into all tickets, and tracking aging and resolution status.
  • Drive process improvement and workflow automation to reduce work-in-progress and shorten response times.
  • Spot blockers and actively work to clear them.
  • Coordinate and manage dependencies between development and support groups.
  • Help eliminate delays, bottlenecks, and other inefficiencies in the delivery process.
  • Escalate risks to leadership when needed.
  • Keep work visible and aligned across development, operations, and support teams.
  • Make priorities, dependencies, and timelines clear to the right stakeholders.
  • Serve as a communication bridge between technical teams and business partners.
  • Carry out duties in line with the organization’s purpose and core values.
  • Maintain regular attendance, which is considered an essential part of the job.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as assigned.

Required qualifications

  • Practical, proven knowledge of both the Scrum framework and Kanban or other flow-based work management methods.
  • Experience with blended Agile delivery models that combine Scrum and Kanban.
  • Background supporting cross-functional teams in fast-changing environments.
  • Prior exposure to service desk or help desk operations.
  • Experience working across both project-based work and ongoing operational work.
  • Ability to remove impediments and improve delivery flow in a measurable way.
  • Strong skills in facilitation, communication, and conflict resolution.
  • Working familiarity with Agile tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Azure DevOps.
  • Willingness and ability to travel occasionally for team meetings, training, company events, and other business needs.
  • CSM, PSM, or Six Sigma certification is strongly preferred.
  • PMP or a comparable project management certification is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in MIS, computer science, business management, engineering, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • At least 2 years of experience in Agile delivery, such as Scrum Master or Agile Lead work.
  • Internal candidates should have 12+ months of strong performance in their current role, approval from their current manager, and a relevant mix of education and experience.
  • Candidates who do not fully meet the education or experience requirements may still be reviewed if they can demonstrate equivalent qualifications and relevant experience, subject to hiring team discretion and applicable laws.
