About the Company

The company is building a collaborative AI workspace where teams and agents can think and work together. The goal is to bring knowledge, projects, meetings, and AI tools into a single environment so work becomes faster, more coherent, and less scattered. The platform is used by millions of people across individual, small-team, and enterprise settings.

Employees are expected to be the first users of the product and help shape the future of work. The culture emphasizes craftsmanship, durable product building, and the belief that meaningful work remains deeply human. The team is focused on setting a new standard for how people collaborate in the AI era, from creating systems of record to building and managing AI agents and reducing repetitive work.

Role Overview

This position calls for a designer with strong product judgment, UX instincts, technical awareness, refined taste, and high-quality execution. The work is aimed at creating software that feels timeless, with careful attention to usability, aesthetics, and long-term product quality.

This is an on-site role that can be based in San Francisco or New York City. The team works together in person on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, and the role is best suited to someone who is comfortable and motivated to collaborate during those anchor days.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop product concepts that strike the right mix of ambition, craft, speed, and commercial value.
  • Own new feature design from early idea exploration through UX definition and polished visual execution.
  • Lead projects independently with engineers and carry ideas through to release.
  • Work closely with Customer Experience, Sales, and Customer Success to understand what different user groups need and value, then use those insights to shape priorities, planning, and roadmap decisions.
  • Collaborate with Marketing to shape compelling product stories across the website, product surfaces, help content, and other communication channels.
  • Design new patterns that are clear, practical, and consistent, while evolving the design system thoughtfully as the product grows.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of professional experience and the ability to manage projects independently from start to finish.
  • Strong customer empathy and the ability to translate user needs into effective product experiences.
  • Comfort working through ambiguous conceptual problems and choosing the right mental models and flows for users.
  • Ability to create interfaces that are clear, intuitive, and visually polished.
  • Awareness of business impact, feasibility, and practical trade-offs in design decisions.
  • A collaborative mindset with strong opinions that can change when presented with better input; open listening and sound judgment are important.
  • Skill in combining words and visuals to tell stories, build alignment, and support decision-making.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with engineering, project management, research, data, and fellow designers.
  • Bonus value for candidates who have built strong tools with small teams, understand the problems caused by fragmented systems, are familiar with influential computing thinkers, or can also code.

Compensation and Benefits

The organization offers competitive cash compensation, equity, and benefits. Final pay is determined by factors such as location, scope of the role, and the candidate’s background and expertise. For San Francisco-based candidates, the estimated base salary is $205,000 to $300,000 per year.

Additional Information

By submitting an application, candidates agree that the company and its affiliates may collect and process their information according to the recruiting privacy policy and applicable New York labor law requirements.

AI Expectations

Deep AI expertise is not required for every role, but team members are expected to be curious, comfortable experimenting, and willing to use AI as a practical collaborator in their work. Where AI fluency is essential, that expectation will be stated explicitly in the qualifications. Successful candidates will treat AI as a useful thinking tool rather than a novelty.

Equal Opportunity and Accommodations

The employer welcomes applicants from a wide range of backgrounds and encourages people to apply even if they do not meet every listed qualification. Hiring decisions are made without discrimination on the basis of protected characteristics, and qualified applicants with arrest or conviction records may be considered where permitted by law.

Reasonable accommodations are available during the application process. The company also states that it does not discriminate in hiring or employment decisions based on race, color, religion, national origin, age, sex, pregnancy, marital status, ancestry, disability, genetic information, veteran status, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, or other protected characteristics. Assistance can be requested from the recruiter if needed due to a disability or accommodation requirement.
