About the role
Equiem is looking for a Product Designer to help define the next generation of real estate technology. The role focuses on creating better building and portfolio insights for asset managers, while also strengthening design quality across the wider product organisation.
You will split your time between hands-on squad design and broader design leadership, combining product thinking, research, prototyping, and design enablement in a part-time onsite arrangement based in Melbourne.
What you will do
As the embedded designer for one squad, you will lead the full UX process from discovery through delivery, working closely with product managers and engineers. You will translate complex data into clear, practical interfaces, carry out research, test usability, and refine experiences based on user feedback.
In the design practice lead capacity, you will help build an AI-native design approach that supports teams across the business to self-serve when it comes to design, prototyping, and validation, while still protecting user experience, accessibility, and product quality.
What Equiem is looking for
The ideal candidate brings deep product design experience across web and mobile, with a strong background in dashboards, analytics, or other data-heavy products. You should be comfortable using AI tools as part of your working process, not just aware of them in theory.
Strong Figma capability is important, including hands-on experience with design systems. Experience in SaaS product design is also expected, along with the ability to work independently in a part-time, distributed setting.
Nice-to-have experience
It would be an advantage to bring familiarity with PropTech or commercial real estate, experience building or scaling design systems and enablement, or exposure to working across multiple product squads.
Role details
This position is based in Melbourne, Australia and is part-time, at around three days per week. The role reports to the Chief Product & Technology Officer.
Why join Equiem
You will be joining a design-led, AI-native product company where your work has a direct impact on how buildings and portfolios are managed. The culture values practical thinking, strong collaboration, and sound judgment. It is a chance to influence both product delivery and design practice across the organisation.
What the team values
- Strong judgment, including knowing when to challenge ideas
- A practical approach to choosing the right level of solution
- A collaborative mindset that lifts the quality of work around you
- Curiosity about new tools, techniques, and ways of working
- Ownership of your output and follow-through on commitments
