Role overview
The Payroll Manager will work remotely from within the United States and be responsible for managing payroll operations and related systems for North America. The role also involves coordination with international partners when needed.
Reporting structure
This position reports to the Director of HR Operations and includes direct supervision of 1 to 2 team members. The role also supports a shared HRIS resource.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee payroll processing and ensure smooth transfer of payroll data through timely, accurate system integrations with internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain adherence to federal and local laws as well as company policies and procedures.
- Act as a support partner for field leaders by providing clear, practical processes, documentation, and guidance.
- Work closely with Finance and Controlling by understanding their goals and converting them into HRIS strategies that support those needs.
- Contribute to enhancements in local and global HR systems.
- Set clear objectives for the team that align with business results, and ensure regular feedback and accountability for performance.
- Encourage cross-functional growth by supporting skill building and employee engagement within the team.
Early success goals
- Within the first 30 days, gain a working understanding of current systems, client groups, and business priorities.
- Within the first 30 days, build relationships with team members and learn their current responsibilities, annual goals, and development plans.
- Within the first 90 days, put feedback processes in place to measure progress and identify improvement opportunities.
Experience and qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree is required.
- At least 5 years of experience in HR administration and payroll functions is required.
- At least 2 years of people management experience is required.
- Strong working knowledge of SAP is required.
