Overview
Jovie of Phoenix is hiring dependable, warm, and safety-minded babysitters to support families in the Tempe area. This role is a strong fit for people who enjoy caring for children from infancy through age 13 and want a schedule that leaves room for the rest of their life. It can also be a great match for former babysitters, daycare staff, nannying professionals, church nursery volunteers, or retired educators who prefer a smaller setting than a classroom.
Compensation
- Starting pay is $17 to $18 per hour.
- Wages increase twice a year based on performance.
- Eligible drives qualify for gas reimbursement at the IRS rate.
- Pay is issued every two weeks.
What the Role Involves
You will provide independent, in-home childcare for families matched near your location. Typical assignments are placed within about 30 miles of your home to help keep travel manageable.
- Lead children in age-appropriate, safe, and enjoyable activities.
- Support everyday routines such as meals, naps, play, and bedtime.
- Prepare bottles, snacks, and simple meals according to household directions.
- Safely drive children when needed; a dependable vehicle is required.
- Keep the environment safe and respond to minor first-aid needs.
- Follow each family’s preferred routines and instructions.
Why This Job Stands Out
- You can choose two consistent weekdays that work for you.
- The role offers steady pay with bi-annual raises.
- Local managers provide support, training, and coaching.
- Each shift brings variety through new families and experiences.
Who Does Well Here
This opportunity is ideal for caregivers who have worked with children outside of their own family, such as through babysitting for non-family clients, daycare, camps, nursery care, or nannying. Candidates who also have family caregiving experience are welcome, as long as they have additional experience in other childcare settings. The best fit will be someone who communicates well, arrives on time, and is comfortable caring for children independently.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of childcare experience in a professional or similar setting such as nannying, babysitting for non-family clients, daycare, church nursery, camps, or comparable work.
- Family childcare experience may be included, but applicants must also have experience outside their own family.
- Provide 2 to 3 childcare references; these may be a combination of professional and family references.
- CPR/First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain it.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Availability for two steady weekdays between 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM.
- Comfort with variable weekly hours, typically 5 to 20 hours per week.
Benefits
- W-2 employee status.
- Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance for eligible employees.
- Sick leave.
- Rewards program with gift card incentives.
