Descrição da vaga

Role overview

Streem is hiring a Media Analyst to join its Insights team in Auckland. This position focuses on turning media coverage into high-value reporting that helps clients understand performance, improve PR and communications decisions, and present findings to senior leaders including C-suite and Board audiences. The work is premium, highly tailored, and central to client strategy.

In this role, you’ll move across the full reporting lifecycle: building search queries, analysing coverage, producing executive-level commentary, and creating clear, visually strong charts and reports. You’ll work with major brands across Australia and New Zealand and help translate media activity into meaningful business insight.

Key duties

  • Review media coverage to identify sentiment, recurring themes, and emerging trends.
  • Build Boolean queries to improve search precision and support report creation.
  • Develop polished charts and visualisations with a clean, design-focused approach.
  • Extract core takeaways and write concise insights and executive summaries.
  • Manage a portfolio of client reports, including monthly, quarterly, and custom deliverables.
  • Share findings with clients and assist account managers during presentations and discussions.
  • Support the growth of the team by training and mentoring newer colleagues.
  • Work with Engineering, Product, and Sales on collaborative cross-functional initiatives.

About you

The ideal candidate is naturally curious, highly attentive to detail, and motivated by the intersection of media, data, and communications. You should be comfortable working in a fast-moving environment with deadlines, while also producing clear writing and thoughtful analysis for client-facing output.

Required background

A qualification in Media, Communications, Journalism, or a closely related field is expected. The role also calls for 2 to 3 years of experience in media analysis, communications, or insights, along with a solid understanding of the Australian and/or New Zealand media landscape. Strong numerical and editorial judgment is important, as is the ability to interpret trends and turn them into conclusions.

Nice-to-have capabilities

Experience with Google Workspace, Excel, and PowerPoint will be an advantage, especially if you’re comfortable using pivot tables and VLOOKUPs. It will also help if you can combine data and narrative smoothly in reports, think critically about chart presentation, edit reports carefully, present findings to senior stakeholders, and work confidently with Boolean search logic.

Who can apply

This opportunity suits candidates with a background in media, communications, journalism, or a similar discipline who have practical experience in media analysis, reporting, or insights. Streem also welcomes applicants with varying levels of experience and encourages people not to hold back if they do not meet every listed requirement.

About Streem

Streem is a media intelligence company supporting influential organisations across Australia and New Zealand. The business provides live monitoring across print, digital, TV, radio, podcasts, and social channels so clients can stay informed and respond quickly to news developments.

  • Extra paid leave options, including birthday leave, wellbeing days, and volunteering leave.
  • $2,000 referral incentive.
  • Access to corporate discounts.
  • Novated leasing options are available.
