Role Overview

This full-time, on-site Masterji Tailor position is based in Leh. The selected candidate will measure clients accurately, guide them on suitable fabrics and styles, and handle the full garment-making process from drafting and cutting to stitching and finishing. The role also includes overseeing junior tailors, handling alterations, keeping quality standards high, and ensuring work is completed within agreed timelines.

Customer Interaction and Shop Support

The role requires regular interaction with customers to understand their needs and offer practical, professional suggestions that help achieve the desired look. The Masterji Tailor will also contribute to a neat, well-managed workspace and support the smooth daily functioning of the tailoring shop.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Strong command over pattern development, fabric cutting, stitching, and finishing across both traditional and modern garment styles.
• Skilled in taking precise body measurements and carrying out alterations that improve fit and comfort.
• Previous experience leading or supporting junior tailors and managing workflow in a tailoring shop or similar setting.
• Comfortable dealing directly with customers, understanding their preferences, and communicating in a polite and professional manner.
• Good understanding of fabrics, garment construction methods, and style trends relevant to local and regional customers.
• Strong attention to detail, dependability with deadlines, and readiness to work full-time on-site in Leh.
• Experience as a senior tailor or master tailor in a shop or boutique is preferred; formal tailoring training or apprenticeship is an added advantage.
• Basic number handling for measurements and order tracking, plus familiarity with local languages and simple record-keeping, would be helpful.
