Role overview
Leigh & Co. Events is expanding its wedding services team and is hiring a Lead Wedding Coordinator for contract work in Baltimore, MD. This role is suited to someone who wants hands-on experience leading wedding-day operations while supporting engaged couples with planning, design, and coordination. Training is provided, and the schedule can be selected by the coordinator. The company is looking for people who can join for the 2026 season and continue beyond that.
Compensation for this project-based assignment is $400 for approximately 10 to 12 hours of work, with payment made per project.
What the role involves
You will act as the lead planner onsite for weddings, working with client experience managers and assistant coordinators to keep the event running smoothly from preparation through final breakdown. Most of the work is performed at the venue.
Responsibilities
- Join the couple’s final planning call about six weeks before the wedding to review logistics, timeline details, and expectations.
- Run the ceremony rehearsal the day before the wedding so everyone understands the order of events, timing, and cues.
- Represent the couple onsite as the main point of support, staying composed and helping solve issues as they come up.
- Supervise the setup of the ceremony and reception so it matches the event design and day-of execution plan.
- Oversee the wedding-day flow from the first vendor arrival until the venue is fully packed down at the end of the night.
- Welcome vendors, direct them as needed, and serve as the central point of contact.
- Provide clear setup directions to vendors so their work aligns with the planned event layout.
- Help place personal and decorative items such as escort cards, menus, table numbers, favors, guest books, and décor pieces.
- Guide the wedding party and family members with timing, coordination, and other day-of needs.
- Make sure all end-of-event belongings, including gifts and personal décor, are packed and tracked.
- Handle last-minute changes and unexpected issues quickly to keep the guest experience seamless.
Requirements
- Weekend availability is required.
- At least 2 years of experience working as a wedding planner or event planner is needed.
- Strong communication skills and a careful eye for detail are essential.
- Reliable transportation is required.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs is necessary.
Additional information
This is a contract position with a flexible schedule that can be chosen by the coordinator. Training is included. The opportunity is intended for the 2026 season and future seasons beyond that.
