Role overview
HDFC Bank is seeking a Lead Data Architect to guide the design and evolution of its next-generation data platform in Mumbai and Bangalore. This role is intended for an experienced architect who can shape enterprise data solutions, define modern cloud and hybrid patterns, and ensure that data foundations support both business users and customer-facing applications.
What you will do
- Design and strengthen application databases, data lakehouse structures, data foundations, and analytics solutions using standardized, modern cloud and hybrid architecture approaches.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to make data accessible and useful for business functions and application teams, driving measurable business value.
- Provide strategic architecture direction for the bank’s next-generation data platform.
- Contribute hands-on expertise in generative AI implementations, including large language models, vector databases, and embedding techniques.
- Work with cloud-native data platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, along with their Gen AI services like Amazon Bedrock, Azure OpenAI Service, and Google Vertex AI.
- Assess new and emerging Gen AI data tools and technologies and recommend solutions that support innovation.
- Create and continuously refine the architectural roadmap for data products and data services, ensuring it stays aligned with enterprise architecture and business strategy.
- Lead the architecture for data transformation and aggregation, including current-state and future-state planning.
- Review business needs and technical designs related to data pipelines, ETL flows, and data models.
- Develop data pipelines across multiple storage and processing environments, including Databricks, Trino, Hadoop, MPP databases, and cloud data warehouses.
- Set and uphold data governance standards and framework requirements.
- Support metadata management and reference data management practices.
- Handle platform-related audits, technology obsolescence, baseline tracking, and related change-management activities through SNOW.
- Build and deploy production-grade data engineering pipelines with automation and CI/CD best practices.
Experience and technical focus
The role calls for 11 to 17 years of experience in data architecture and large-scale data engineering. Strong practical exposure to big data technologies, streaming systems, observability, lineage, cataloging, security, governance, and machine learning or AI-related modeling is expected.
Work location
This position is based in Mumbai and Bangalore.
Eligibility
Any graduate candidate may apply, provided they meet the required experience and technical expectations for the role.
Additional information
The position involves working with modern data architecture patterns such as data warehouse, data lake, lakehouse, data ingestion, curation, and consumption. Familiarity with relational databases and analytics technologies is also important, along with experience in Azure or AWS, preferably Azure, for ingestion, ELT/ETL, and data consumption services.
