Descrição da vaga

Overview

Applications are open to Indian nationals for a Junior Research Fellow position in an Anusandhan National Research Foundation Early Career Research Grant (ECRG) supported project. The work is based at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Birla Institute of Technology Mesra, Patna Campus.

Project Details

Project title: Noise Unaware Semi-Supervised Approach to Image Super Resolution in Fluorescence Microscopy

Principal Investigator: Dr. Hazique Aetesam, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Birla Institute of Technology Mesra, Patna Campus, Patna-800014

Contact email: hazique@bitmesra.ac.in

Project duration: 3 years

Vacancy: 1 position

Role Summary

The selected candidate will contribute to research in image super-resolution for fluorescence microscopy, with emphasis on computational imaging, image restoration, and deep learning-based methods.

Eligibility and Educational Qualification

Applicants should have either a first-class or equivalent M.Tech/ME/Integrated M.Tech/ME in CSE, IT, ECE, AIML, Biomedical Engineering, or an equivalent field, or a first-class or equivalent B.Tech/BE in CSE, IT, ECE, AIML, Biomedical Engineering, or an equivalent field.

Candidates qualifying through JRF-level selection may later be considered for SRF status if they complete two years of research experience. Any such upgrade also requires an institutional assessment by the PhD-enrolling institution after the two-year period.

The upper age limit is 32 years.

Preferred Profile

Preference may be given to candidates who have qualified through CSIR/UGC NET or GATE. Applicants with strong academic records and/or relevant publications may be considered even if they do not meet this criterion.

Strong practical experience in MATLAB and/or Python, along with deep learning tools such as PyTorch, will be an advantage.

Background knowledge in computer vision, image processing, or computational imaging — especially image restoration and super-resolution — is desirable.

A good understanding of optical and non-optical image models, including point spread functions and wavefront aberrations, as well as signal processing, is important.

Experience with Linux servers, Bash scripting, and multi-GPU training workflows will be beneficial.

Fellowship and Terms

For the JRF role, the fellowship starts at Rs. 37,000 per month plus 20% HRA as per institutional/ANRF norms. The appointment is initially for one year and may be extended depending on performance and the remaining project period.

For SRF, eligible candidates who have completed two years as JRF may receive Rs. 42,000 per month plus 20% HRA as per institutional/ANRF norms.

Application Process

Interested candidates should email their CV to hazique@bitmesra.ac.in and copy ar.apbitp@bitmesra.ac.in. The CV must include the candidate’s email ID and working phone number.
