About the role

This position suits someone who is enthusiastic, inquisitive, and eager to build on an existing understanding of software licensing. You will work closely with experienced licensing consultants, account teams, and vendor contacts to deepen your knowledge, strengthen customer relationships, and contribute to practical licensing and optimisation results.
This is a strong opportunity for someone ready to progress in their career, expand their expertise, and gain hands-on exposure in a supportive environment.
Key responsibilities
- Respond to customer questions about software licensing across several vendors, including Microsoft CSP and Enterprise Programs.
- Collaborate with senior licensing consultants, account managers, and internal stakeholders to interpret customer needs and recommend suitable licensing approaches.
- Support the creation of licensing proposals, quotations, renewals, tenders, and customer-facing communications.
- Assist customers in understanding their software investments and identifying ways to improve usage and reduce unnecessary spend.
- Stay informed on vendor programmes, licensing updates, and market developments so advice remains accurate and timely.
- Develop productive relationships with customers, vendors, and Datacom teams while continuing to grow your own licensing capability.
What you’ll need
- Strong enthusiasm, curiosity, and a real interest in software licensing and technology.
- Basic knowledge of software licensing across multiple vendors, including Microsoft CSP programmes.
- Readiness to learn, ask questions, and build licensing expertise with guidance from experienced colleagues.
- Excellent customer service skills and the ability to form positive relationships with clients, internal teams, and vendor partners.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, with careful attention to detail.
- Clear spoken and written communication skills.
- A proactive mindset, the ability to prioritise work, and a collaborative approach.
Benefits
Datacom offers a dynamic, agile workplace that retains a small-business feel while being part of one of the largest IT professional services providers in New Zealand and Australia. The company values people, recognises contributions, and provides an environment that supports innovation and career growth.
Perks include employee discounts, social events, remote working, flexible hours, and access to professional development courses. You’ll also work at the forefront of technology, supporting major enterprise customers on meaningful and challenging projects.
