Role overview

Barts Health NHS Trust is offering a Band 3 Imaging Assistant opportunity at Whipps Cross Hospital within a busy imaging team. The department serves one of the country’s most active emergency departments and supports a wide mix of services, including CT colonography, walk-in GP clinics, a dedicated MRI service for pacemaker patients, dental imaging, and MDT-led fluoroscopy.

The imaging service across Barts Health is moving into a refreshed operating model, with additional recruitment to strengthen the quality of radiography care across all sites. The trust’s ambition is to help colleagues work at the top of their scope, supported by training and mentoring, so the workforce can deliver excellent care now and in the future.

This role sits in a fast-paced and varied environment where the main focus is to support safe, timely, and high-quality care for patients attending the imaging department.

Key duties

Working alongside radiographers and other clinical colleagues, you will help ensure imaging activity for both inpatients and outpatients is carried out safely, efficiently, and in line with local and national guidance.

You will rotate across CT, MRI, Interventional Radiology, Fluoroscopy, and General X-Ray. The post also involves contributing to a 24/7, year-round service, as well as the extended 7-day MRI service.

Under the supervision of a trained radiographer, you will assist with preparing patients for examinations, organise imaging department work, coordinate with portering teams to make sure patients are moved to and from the department safely, and provide clerical and administrative support.

Organisation overview
