Vancouver Coastal Health is hiring a Housekeeping Aide for qathet General Hospital in Powell River, British Columbia. The housekeeping team is responsible for keeping clinical and non-clinical spaces clean, sanitary, and safe. This includes routine environmental cleaning and disinfection work in areas such as patient rooms, offices, washrooms, and shared spaces, while following hospital policies, procedures, and daily work routines.

Duties and environmental services work

  • Carry out damp dusting and both wet and dry mopping.
  • Use appropriate equipment for floor care, maintenance, and refinishing.
  • Clean and disinfect ceilings, walls, vents, washrooms, beds, furniture, and equipment.
  • Collect and remove regular waste and biomedical waste.
  • Perform spill cleanup when needed.
  • Make beds and help maintain the overall cleanliness of the facility.
  • Work alongside infection control and patient care teams to support a safe environment.
  • Handle garbage, recycling, soiled linen, bio-hazard waste, carpet vacuuming, floor polishing, and disinfection of beds and walls as part of environmental services duties.

Grade 10 is required, or an equivalent mix of education, training, and experience.
