About the Role
Progress West Hospital is hiring a Housekeeper to support patient care by maintaining a clean, safe, and reassuring environment throughout the hospital. This position is part of the environmental services team and focuses on cleaning patient rooms and common areas while helping reduce infection risks and supporting the hospital’s commitment to patient-centered care.
Work Schedule
- Full-time position with 40 hours per week
- Shift timing: 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- Rotation includes holidays and every other weekend
- Direct interaction with patients is required
- Daily pay is available
Hospital Overview
Opened in 2007, Progress West Hospital is one of BJC HealthCare’s newer facilities in St. Charles County. The hospital features modern private rooms and provides 24-hour emergency care. It also works with St. Louis Children’s Hospital to deliver specialized pediatric emergency services.
The facility offers a wide range of services, including surgery, endoscopy, cardiac catheterization, medical and surgical inpatient care, diagnostic imaging, laboratory services, and the Advanced Wound Center. It has also expanded its Childbirth Center to better support at-risk mothers and babies, including a newborn ICU for infants born as early as 32 weeks. Progress West Hospital is certified as a Level II Stroke Center, and its medical office building includes specialists in primary care, cardiology, obstetrics, pediatrics, and orthopedics.
Role Purpose
The Housekeeper is responsible for carrying out assigned daily cleaning tasks according to the hospital’s procedures and standards. The role helps ensure that all areas are not only clean and presentable, but also safe and sanitary for patients, visitors, and staff.
Responsibilities
- Carry out routine cleaning and janitorial duties in patient rooms, public spaces, and shared areas following approved cleaning methods.
- Complete discharge cleaning in inpatient rooms and prepare the space for the next patient admission.
- Set up and refresh rooms as needed, including replacing linens, cleaning surfaces, mopping floors, and arranging furnishings.
- Maintain cleaning equipment so it remains clean and works properly in line with procedure.
- Report any equipment, furniture, or building issues that need maintenance to a supervisor or manager.
Requirements
- No prior experience is required for the role.
- Education preference: High School Diploma or GED.
- Supervisor experience is not required at the minimum level.
- Preferred supervisor experience is less than 2 years.
