What you will do

• Help create a store experience where shoppers feel welcomed, valued, and supported.
• Keep the department stocked, arranged, and presented according to merchandising plans.
• Maintain shelf availability, product freshness, correct rotation, inventory levels, and accurate price tags/signage.
• Support ordering activities and ensure cooler and freezer areas are properly maintained.
• Assist customers with locating items or suggesting suitable products.
• Work with teammates in a respectful, cooperative way and share relevant company, department, and job information.
• Follow all applicable local, state, federal, and company rules.
• Track inventory and stocking concerns, and report any discrepancies.
• Inspect products for freshness and quality, and take the appropriate next steps when issues are found.
• Ensure items remain at safe temperatures and that required temperature logs are completed and retained.
• Maintain food safety, sanitation, productivity, and safe work practices at all times.
• Follow USDA, COOL, DOA, and other food-safety compliance requirements.
• Carry out product recalls and withdrawals promptly and keep affected items secured away from customers.
• Help reinforce store safety procedures by spotting hazards, reporting unsafe conditions, and notifying management about accidents.
• Report safety concerns, injuries, or illegal activity such as robbery, theft, or fraud.
• Support wage-and-hour compliance and a strong safety culture in the department.
• Confirm that associates have needed safety training and that protective equipment is available and used where required.
• Help ensure equipment stays in working order and report hazards, including lockout/tagout issues, to management.
• Perform other job-related tasks as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States, or be able to obtain authorization.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screening and a background check.
• Strong customer service ability is required.
• Good interpersonal, communication, and motivational skills are needed.
• Relevant experience: 0 to 3 years.
• English is required; Spanish is preferred.
• This role involves heavy physical work and varied shifts.
• Travel may be occasional, with no overnight travel expected.
• Work may include indoor, outdoor, cold, freezing, heated, and wet or humid conditions.
• The job may involve repetitive motion, lifting up to 50 lbs, and pulling up to 250 lbs.

Work environment and equipment

The position may require standing or walking for long periods, using hands and feet repeatedly, reaching overhead, carrying loads, and occasionally sitting, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or climbing up to 30 ft. Safety risks may include slippery floors, cluttered surfaces, sharp objects, hazardous equipment, loud noise, dust, fumes, sprays, cleaning chemicals, and other irritants or toxins. Common tools and equipment include cleaning supplies, office equipment, registers, pricing guns, scales, scanners, carts, racks, pallet jacks, and shopping carts. Preferred tools include a baler/compactor and box cutter. Personal protective equipment may include goggles, gloves, and a back brace.
