Role overview

Low Carbon is seeking an experienced grid connection planning specialist for renewable energy projects. The role focuses on planning and improving grid connections for ground-mounted solar, wind, and energy storage assets, while working closely with grid operators to help move projects toward delivery. The position is based in Berlin.

Responsibilities

  • Manage grid connection planning activities for renewable energy developments in medium- and high-voltage networks.
  • Secure grid access for new projects and coordinate directly with grid operators.
  • Handle discussions on grid connection applications, connection points, technical standards, and certification requirements.
  • Review and improve grid connection layouts and cable routes from project sites to the NVP, balancing technical and economic feasibility.
  • Prepare concept studies, energy yield simulations, approval-stage draft plans, implementation plans, and cost estimates for components and substations.
  • Assess plans and technical solutions proposed by third parties, including development partners and acquisition opportunities.
  • Develop deeper expertise in relevant system components.
  • Maintain close communication with grid operators and related organisations.
  • Track and translate technical and regulatory changes, as well as applicable standards, into operational practice.
  • Support strong collaboration within the development team and with external development partners.
