Role Overview
The Eau Claire Fire Department is looking for dependable, caring, and brave people who are committed to serving the community. In this role, you will help improve safety and quality of life for residents and visitors of Eau Claire by responding to fires, medical emergencies, disasters, and prevention needs, while also supporting community education efforts.
This opportunity is open for current firefighter vacancies as well as placement on the hiring eligibility list. Lateral transfers are also being considered. The department describes itself as professional, inclusive, and forward-looking.
What You Will Do
You will contribute to the protection of lives and property through a mix of emergency response, prevention, and public service work. The position involves fire suppression, emergency medical services, disaster response, fire prevention activities, and public education efforts.
Required Qualifications
Applicants must meet the following conditions at the time of hire:
- High school diploma or equivalent such as a GED
- Valid driver’s license that is maintained throughout employment
- U.S. citizenship
- Minimum age of 18 years
- Valid CPAT certification
- Either Nationally Registered or Wisconsin EMT certification along with Firefighter I certification, or Nationally Registered or Wisconsin EMT certification plus Paramedic certification, with completion of Firefighter I and II training within one year after hire
Lateral Transfer Eligibility
To be considered for a lateral transfer, the applicant must already be working full-time as a career firefighter.
