Role Overview
The Estimation Manager will oversee the end-to-end estimation and commercial evaluation process for Design & Build and interior projects across India and international markets. The role involves shaping pricing strategy, improving bid success rates, managing a high-performing team, and ensuring commercial accuracy and profitability across proposals and tenders.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of the estimation function for projects in India and global markets, covering cost planning and commercial assessment for Design & Build and interior assignments.
- Build and refine estimation practices from early concept stages through final design, ensuring the output is precise, competitive, and aligned with business goals.
- Manage the full bid cycle, including preparing, evaluating, and submitting major tenders and proposals according to client specifications.
- Review drawings, specifications, and technical documents to determine scope, confirm assumptions, and create detailed cost breakdowns.
- Work with leadership on pricing decisions, margin improvement, and bid strategy to improve win rates while protecting profitability.
- Recruit, guide, and develop the estimation team, strengthening capability, review quality, and process discipline.
- Create and maintain a strong network of vendors and subcontractors, supporting cost competitiveness, effective negotiation, and dependable delivery partners.
- Introduce value engineering, cost benchmarking, and standardization measures to raise speed and accuracy in estimation.
- Identify commercial and delivery-related risks early and put mitigation plans and cost-saving measures in place.
- Coordinate closely with design, procurement, and project delivery teams so projects move smoothly from estimation into execution.
- Set up and maintain estimation workflows, tools, and reporting systems to give leadership clear visibility into pipeline status and commercial insights.
Requirements
- A degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Interior Design, Construction Management, or a similar discipline.
- Strong command over cost estimation, commercial planning, and bid management for large-scale projects.
- Advanced skills in MS Excel, BOQ preparation, and quantity takeoff tools.
- Solid understanding of materials, construction methods, and the cost factors affecting commercial interiors and Design & Build work.
- Ability to read and interpret detailed drawings, specifications, and contracts.
- Proven leadership, stakeholder handling, and negotiation skills.
- Capability to manage several high-value bids simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- 8 to 12 years of relevant experience in estimation, commercial, or bid management roles.
- Track record of leading estimation teams and managing complete bid processes.
- Experience with global projects and familiarity with international costing standards and practices.
- Background in Design & Build and/or commercial interiors projects.
- Exposure to vendor management, contract negotiation, and strategic sourcing.
