Descrição da vaga
Overview
Our client, an established renewable energy company, is looking for a driven Environmental Scientist with an ecology and/or ornithology background to support its Development Team. This position plays an important part in helping the senior project management group coordinate Environmental Impact Assessment reports, Appropriate Assessments, and planning submission documents.
The Project Development Team is focused on progressing and increasing the value of the current onshore project pipeline. With a steady flow of work in place, the team is now growing and looking for a capable, enthusiastic professional to join the group.
Location preference is for someone based in the Limerick office in Adare, either full-time or part-time under a hybrid working arrangement.
What the role involves
- Supporting the senior project management team with the day-to-day coordination of a major pipeline of renewable energy projects.
- Organising, scheduling, and planning each stage of ecological project work, while making sure the right resources and budgets are available to deliver on time.
- Reviewing technical project documents carefully, especially material connected to ecology, hydrology, and hydrogeology, to ensure the final outputs are of a high standard.
- Spotting issues early, raising them quickly, and taking a practical, solution-focused approach with strong attention to detail.
- Liaising with external consultants, statutory bodies, local authorities, and An Coimisiún Pleanála.
Candidate profile
Ideal applicants will have a degree or higher qualification in Environmental Science, Natural Sciences, or another related field. Experience in an ecology-focused role, particularly involving the design, coordination, or lead management of field surveys, would be an advantage.
A solid understanding of ecological assessment and environmental law in Ireland, including the Habitats and Birds Directives, would be highly desirable. Experience managing complex projects, balancing multiple priorities, and working effectively with clients and stakeholders is also important, ideally within the renewable energy sector.
Knowledge of Environmental Impact Assessment reporting for wind and solar projects would be especially useful, and familiarity with the planning and consenting process for renewable energy developments would be a bonus.
The successful person should be a strong team player with good interpersonal skills, able to work on their own when needed while also contributing to a multidisciplinary group. A full, clean driving licence is required, along with a commitment to ongoing professional development.
What is offered
This role offers a collaborative working environment with strong team interaction and the chance to work alongside engineers, environmental scientists, project managers, and community liaison officers. The company encourages both professional and personal growth and is expanding strongly.
It is a strong opportunity for someone who wants to begin or build on a career in the renewable energy sector.
