Job purpose
The Electrical Project Engineer will take charge of planning, coordinating, carrying out, and overseeing all electrical works on allocated construction projects. The position is focused on making sure installations are completed according to approved drawings, project specifications, quality expectations, safety requirements, and the agreed schedule and budget.
Key responsibilities
Project execution and site management
- Direct and oversee all electrical installation work at project sites.
- Make sure activities are carried out in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and the project timeline.
- Track day-to-day site progress and share status updates with the Project Manager.
- Work closely with site engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors to keep execution running smoothly.
- Identify and resolve technical and site-related issues together with consultants and design teams.
Engineering and technical support
- Examine electrical design drawings, shop drawings, and material submissions.
- Confirm that work follows project requirements, authority rules, and international standards.
- Assist with technical calculations, load schedules, and system layout preparation.
- Contribute technical input for design changes and value engineering suggestions.
Coordination and stakeholder management
- Coordinate with other MEP teams such as HVAC, plumbing, fire fighting, and ELV systems.
- Communicate with consultants, clients, and local authorities for inspections and approvals.
- Participate in project meetings and present technical and progress updates.
Quality assurance and compliance
- Ensure electrical work is completed in line with QA/QC procedures and required standards.
- Carry out routine site inspections and prepare quality-related reports.
- Maintain compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements.
- Monitor workmanship and ensure corrective action is taken for any non-conformance.
Material and resource management
- Assess material needs and support procurement coordination.
- Help ensure electrical materials are delivered on time as per the project plan.
- Track material consumption and minimize site wastage.
- Assist in planning manpower and assigning site resources.
Testing, commissioning, and handover
- Supervise testing, commissioning, and final energization of electrical systems.
- Ensure all documents needed for inspections, approvals, and handover are properly prepared.
- Support the preparation of as-built drawings and operation manuals.
- Help ensure a smooth close-out and client handover process.
Qualifications and experience
The role requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related equivalent. Candidates should bring 4 to 8 years of experience in electrical engineering within construction or MEP projects. A solid understanding of LV and MV systems, installation methods, and site execution is essential. Prior GCC or UAE project experience is strongly preferred. Familiarity with authority requirements such as DEWA, ADDC, and municipality regulations is important. Working knowledge of AutoCAD and MS Office is also expected.
