Role Overview
The Duty Manager is responsible for keeping the hotel running smoothly across all departments on a day-to-day basis, while maintaining a consistently high level of guest service. This role suits someone who can respond calmly and professionally to any situation in a busy, fast-moving setting and who can lead the team effectively.
Core Responsibilities
- Report for duty on time, dressed in the correct uniform and following the company’s grooming expectations.
- Take handover from the previous shift at the start of duty and pass information to the next manager at the end of the shift.
- Work closely with the General Manager on daily hotel operations.
- Support, guide, and supervise departments such as food and beverage, reception, and accommodation with a proactive approach.
- Share hotel service information with guests, including bar and restaurant hours, internet access, luggage assistance, and other support during check-in and throughout the stay.
- Where needed, work shifts within different hotel departments.
- Share responsibility with department heads for assigned duties and help ensure all departments operate to the highest customer care standards, including ongoing staff training.
- Coordinate with management to monitor staffing levels so that service standards and budget requirements are met.
- Assist with weekly stock checks for laundry, alcohol, food, and cutlery/crockery, as directed by the General Manager.
- Handle guest complaints during the shift in a polite, professional, and efficient manner.
- Attend meetings and training sessions when required.
- Follow company rules on fire safety, health and safety, hygiene, and security, including fire walks and security checks.
- Follow all cash-handling procedures carefully.
- Be prepared to support other hotel areas when required and respond to reasonable management requests.
- Ensure HACCP procedures and related systems are completed during the shift.
- Comply with all company procedures and policies at all times.
