Database Administrator (DBA) - MongoDB/MySQL

Role overview

We are looking for a seasoned Database Administrator with hands-on experience in MongoDB or MySQL to take ownership of database administration, upkeep, and optimization. The role focuses on building reliable, secure, and highly available data systems while partnering with engineering teams to address technical challenges and improve database practices.

What you will do

• Build, deploy, and support database infrastructure, including clusters, replica sets, and sharded setups.
• Track database health, respond to alerts, diagnose performance slowdowns, and fix outages or failures.
• Work with developers to recommend database structures and tuning approaches for new initiatives.
• Create scripts and utilities to automate routine database operations and maintenance tasks.
• Handle technical investigations, incident response, and urgent troubleshooting for database issues.
• Keep up with the latest MongoDB or MySQL practices and apply improvements that raise performance and reliability.
• Manage and maintain a portion of the MySQL database environment.

What we're looking for

• A bachelor’s degree or higher, preferably in Computer Science or a closely related discipline.
• Over 3 years of database administration experience, with MongoDB expertise required; MySQL administration experience is also relevant.
• Strong knowledge of MongoDB cluster setup, performance tuning, and recovery from failures.
• Working familiarity with Linux and Python.
• Solid communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with development teams on technical issues.
• Independent thinker with strong learning agility and problem-solving ability, able to adapt quickly to new tools and technologies.
