Role overview
This is an opportunity for an experienced insurance specialist to step into a Commercial Lines Handler position with a well-established brokerage in Donegal. The role suits someone who enjoys a busy environment, takes pride in client service, and can manage commercial insurance work with accuracy and care.
Candidates who prefer a three-day or four-day working week may be considered. The working setup is hybrid, with one day each week required onsite.
Key duties
- Look after a portfolio of commercial customers, making sure their insurance requirements are addressed and business relationships are maintained.
- Manage renewals, compare market options, complete placements, and issue correct policy paperwork.
- Gather the information needed for underwriters, submit it promptly, and follow up to keep the placement process moving.
- Respond to day-to-day client questions, including mid-term changes and claims notifications.
- Keep files organised and records up to date so the work remains compliant with legal and regulatory standards.
- Stay current on market movements, insurer developments, and changes in customer needs.
- Work closely with team leads and colleagues to support departmental objectives.
Experience and skills
- Prior hands-on experience in commercial insurance broking is required.
- APA or CIP qualification is beneficial.
- Sound knowledge of commercial insurance lines, including Property, Liability, and Professional Indemnity, is important.
- Strong administrative and organisational ability, with a sharp eye for detail, is needed.
- Awareness of Ireland’s insurance regulatory environment is expected.
- Good IT ability is essential; familiarity with insurance software would be an advantage.
- Excellent people skills and a strong service mindset are important for success in this role.
