About the role
An established general contractor in the commercial construction space is hiring an Assistant Project Manager to help deliver premium tenant improvement work in the Downtown Los Angeles area. The position supports sophisticated, design-focused interiors and is best suited to someone who can work efficiently in a fast-moving environment while managing details carefully.
Compensation
The salary range for this position is $120,000 to $140,000 per year.
Key responsibilities
- Support the Project Manager across every stage of a construction project, from preconstruction through final closeout.
- Work with subcontractors, vendors, and consultants to keep work moving on time and at the expected quality level.
- Assist with planning schedules, managing budgets, and monitoring project costs.
- Track and route RFIs, submittals, change orders, and other project records.
- Help keep schedules current and flag possible delays or risks early.
- Join project meetings and contribute to progress updates and reporting.
- Help ensure compliance with safety expectations, code requirements, and internal procedures.
- Take part in client communications and support strong working relationships with stakeholders.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 2 to 5+ years of experience in construction coordination or engineering support roles is required.
- Direct experience with high-end commercial tenant improvement projects is required.
- A bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a similar discipline is preferred.
- Working knowledge of construction management tools such as Procore, Bluebeam, and MS Project is expected.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, drawings, and specifications is needed.
- Excellent organization, communication, and problem-solving abilities are important.
- Ability to juggle multiple priorities in a deadline-focused environment is necessary.
