Role overview
This role supports the Executive Housekeeper and/or Assistant Executive Housekeeper in maintaining exceptional cleanliness, order, and service standards across the hotel. The position is part of the Housekeeping & Laundry function and is a non-management full-time role based in Singapore.
Key responsibilities
- Take charge of the Housekeeping Department whenever the Executive Housekeeper and/or Assistant Executive Housekeeper is unavailable.
- Oversee day-to-day room operations and coordinate with other departments on room-related issues.
- Respond quickly and effectively to guest complaints and special requests.
- Promote strong coordination between housekeeping and other hotel departments or sections.
- Carry out quality checks for guest rooms and public areas, and allocate tasks to housekeeping and engineering team members when needed.
- Inspect VIP rooms daily to confirm they are presented in excellent condition.
- Ensure work output remains consistent and meets quality expectations.
- Contribute to departmental initiatives and suggest practical improvements to strengthen operations.
- Maintain records for controllable items, sales, and production figures.
- Support the maintenance of a healthy P&L outcome for both the Housekeeping and Laundry departments.
- Assist with managing linen, uniforms, and other departmental supplies.
- Review guest feedback and identify areas where service can be improved.
- Regularly inspect housekeeping storage areas to make sure they remain clean and orderly.
- Check housekeeping equipment on a routine basis and work with vendors for repairs or maintenance.
- Review daily staff assignments to ensure proper coverage across all shifts.
- Prepare monthly departmental rosters.
- Plan, deliver, and support training for housekeeping associates, including short 15-minute sessions.
- Conduct interviews for new hires and assist with recruitment.
- Provide first-day orientation for new team members.
- Schedule and monitor contractor work and recommend ways to improve standards.
- Carry out appraisal discussions when assigned by HR.
- Complete 90-day and annual performance appraisals for housekeeping associates.
- Track annual leave and public holidays for all associates.
- Counsel staff and initiate disciplinary action when required.
- Ensure procedures are followed in line with LSOP guidelines and compliance requirements.
- Confirm that housekeeping associates follow safety precautions, fire evacuation steps, and emergency procedures.
- Handle any additional duties assigned from time to time.
Requirements
- A diploma in Hospitality, Hotel Management, or a related discipline.
- At least 1 year of supervisory experience leading housekeeping operations in a hotel, serviced apartment, or resort environment.
- Working knowledge of hotel PMS tools such as Opera and Knowcross.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail, especially for inspection work.
- Good problem-solving ability and confidence in handling guest concerns.
- Experience in coaching, mentoring, and developing team members.
- Leadership capability with solid technical understanding and a meticulous approach.
- Effective time management and the ability to perform well under pressure.
- Familiarity with housekeeping procedures, chemicals, and equipment.
- Understanding of room inspection standards and audit expectations.
- Basic knowledge of inventory control and cost management.
- Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
