About the Company
CONVERGIX Automation Solutions is a global systems integrator focused on industrial automation. The team designs, builds, tests, and integrates tailored solutions for customers across a range of industries, with a strong emphasis on solving complex operational challenges. The organization is working toward becoming a highly trusted partner in automation, backed by experienced people, established processes, and broad technical expertise.
Role Overview
This position is for an Automation Applications Engineer responsible for reviewing customer needs, shaping the proposed solution, and preparing the budget, costs, and timeline for the project. You will develop a clear and accurate proposal that connects the concept, sequence of operations, and mechanical details into a custom integrated system that fits the customer’s requirements. The role is field-based in Southern Ireland and is fully remote.
Key Responsibilities
- Work directly with customers to define requirements, build concepts, estimate costs, and deliver proposals.
- Partner with sales to strengthen the overall bid and win strategy.
- Manage the complete proposal process from concept through technical design, costing, proposal writing, and customer collaboration.
- Coordinate with sales and leadership to ensure technical alignment.
- Present solution concepts to customers and highlight the competitive advantages of the approach.
- Support the internal proposal engineering team and related workflows.
- Record technical needs, project risks, and project plan or change-control information.
- Provide technical advice where needed and interact with customers at different levels of seniority.
- Support a smooth transition to operations for maintenance and troubleshooting after handover.
- Use standardized quoting, presentation, and review processes.
- Apply company tools and resources such as proposal templates, costing worksheets, CAD tools, compliance matrices, and FAT/SAT criteria.
- Use shared knowledge resources and collaboration tools to improve proposals and reuse proven reference designs.
Experience and Qualifications
Applicants should have an HND or degree in Engineering, or equivalent practical experience. A minimum of 5 years in the automation sector is required, ideally with life sciences exposure. The role also calls for experience in quoting, sales support, and customer-facing work, plus the ability to interpret mechanical design drawings and customer part prints. Candidates must be able to create 2D CAD concepts and work with 3D CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Inventor, or Visual Components. Experience collaborating with project teams and customers to estimate and design full systems is essential, along with the ability to assess costs tied to timelines, materials, labor, tooling, and similar factors. Knowledge of electrical and pneumatic control architecture is preferred.
Company Values
- Integrity: respect, transparency, and commitment.
- Excellence: continuous improvement, innovation, collaboration, and communication.
- Passion: momentum, urgency, growth, success, and speed.
