Accountant

Role overview

Darat is seeking an accountant in Riyadh to oversee day-to-day and periodic financial work, with a strong focus on accounting accuracy, statutory compliance, and practical reporting. This position is based on site in Malaz, Riyadh.

Core accounting duties

• Manage the complete accounting cycle, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll, and bank reconciliations.
• Produce financial statements on a monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis.
• Make sure all transactions are captured correctly in the books.
• Track cash flow, operating expenses, and budget usage.
• Support intercompany accounting activities when needed.

Taxation and compliance

• Handle compliance activities related to ZATCA.
• Prepare and file VAT returns.
• Prepare and file withholding tax submissions.
• Complete any other required statutory filings.
• Work with external auditors and tax advisors as needed.
• Ensure adherence to Saudi labor and financial rules and regulations.

Reporting, analysis, and controls

• Prepare management reports that support business decisions.
• Review financial performance and identify risks or inefficiencies.
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting exercises.
• Maintain effective internal financial controls.
• Coordinate with banks, auditors, and government departments.
• Keep documentation organized and records properly maintained.

Qualifications and skills

A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline is required. Professional credentials such as SOCPA, CPA, or ACCA are preferred. The role requires at least 10 years of accounting experience, including prior experience in Saudi Arabia. Experience in SMEs, holding companies, or multi-entity environments is considered an advantage.

Strong knowledge of VAT and ZATCA regulations, hands-on use of accounting systems such as Odoo, SAP, QuickBooks, or similar tools, advanced Excel ability, and a solid understanding of IFRS are all important for this role. The candidate must be fluent in both Arabic and English, spoken and written.
