Accountant

Role overview

We are looking for a driven and technically capable Accountant to join an EMEA Accounting & Finance team in Cork, Ireland. The position plays an important part in protecting financial accuracy and supporting statutory compliance across entities in the EMEA region. The role reports to the Manager of EMEA Finance and is offered as a contract assignment with a minimum duration of 9 months and a possible extension to 12 months.

Financial accounting

• Keep statutory ledger accounts up to date, analyse them carefully, and prepare financial statements and reports for month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close while staying aligned with accepted accounting and reporting principles.
• Serve as the main contact point between the EMEA Accounting & Finance team and local accountants, where needed, to help meet local bookkeeping obligations in specific countries.
• Carry out detailed review of entity-level financial results, identify unusual variances, and provide clear explanations to management and other internal stakeholders.
• Maintain, document, and strengthen internal controls in line with company policy.

Statutory reporting

• Own the full preparation and review cycle for statutory financial statements for several EMEA entities, ensuring compliance with applicable standards such as IFRS and local GAAP.
• Coordinate the annual statutory audit process across EMEA entities and act as the key interface between internal teams such as Finance, Tax, Legal, Revenue, and Payroll, as well as external auditors.
• Prepare reconciliations from US GAAP to local GAAP for use in statutory financial statement preparation.
• Ensure statutory accounts and related regulatory filings are submitted on time across multiple jurisdictions.
• Track developments in local GAAP and evaluate how those changes affect reporting and the financial statements.

Additional responsibilities

• Oversee and support other Accountants in the EMEA Accounting & Finance team.
• Develop productive relationships with internal partners and external auditors.
• Help drive improvements in accounting and statutory reporting processes across the team.
• Support additional projects and ad hoc finance requests as needed.

Candidate profile

The ideal candidate is preferably a qualified accountant with a CPA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or an equivalent professional qualification. You should bring at least 2 years of post-qualification experience in financial accounting or statutory reporting, gained either in a multinational company or a Big Four/Top Tier public accounting firm. Strong technical accounting knowledge is essential, especially under IFRS, along with hands-on experience managing multiple statutory audits successfully.

Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with major ERP platforms such as SAP are required. You should be able to explain financial matters clearly to both finance and non-finance audiences, build effective working relationships across different levels of an organisation, and stay highly organised in a fast-moving, high-growth environment. A proactive, solution-oriented mindset and the ability to juggle several priorities while meeting strict deadlines are also important.

Engagement details

This is a contract role based onsite in Cork, County Cork, Ireland. The assignment is expected to last at least 9 months and may extend to 12 months. The position is focused on full-time work.
