About the internship
This field-based internship is focused on documenting civic issues across local neighborhoods in Mumbai. The role involves direct interaction with residents, careful collection of on-ground evidence, and structured reporting so the central team can track complaints and coordinate next steps.
What you’ll do
- Visit assigned areas to spot, observe, and record public issues.
- Speak with local residents and gather their views on civic concerns.
- Take clear photographs and short videos of the problems identified.
- Record brief citizen statements related to the reported issues.
- Prepare and submit issue reports in the required format.
- Work with the central team to assist with follow-up actions.
- Keep organized logs of complaints, status updates, and resolutions.
Who can apply
This opportunity is open to candidates who can commit to a full-time, in-office internship, start between 24 June 2026 and 29 July 2026, and stay for 6 months. Applicants must be based in Mumbai. Candidates with the right skills and interest in civic work may apply, and women looking to begin or restart their careers are also encouraged.
Additional requirements
- Preferred age range: 18 to 35 years.
- Candidates living in or around Chembur or Kurla will be given preference.
- Comfortable communicating in Hindi and/or Marathi.
- Willing to travel for field visits within assigned neighborhoods.
- Must have a smartphone with a camera to capture images, videos, and submit reports.
- Basic familiarity with WhatsApp and social media platforms is useful.
- Strong interest in community service and resolving public issues.
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate clearly.
- Prior experience in NSS, student leadership, social work, or NGO activities is an advantage.
- Students from Political Science, Sociology, Journalism, or related disciplines are encouraged to apply.
