Store Manager / Assistant Manager

This opportunity is for a Store Manager (Store Captain) role in Chennai, focused on running a hard-discount FMCG retail store. The position is centered on keeping operations efficient, controlling costs, maintaining inventory accuracy, and delivering a smooth shopping experience for customers.

Role Summary

The selected candidate will oversee the store’s daily functioning, ensuring that operating standards are followed, stock movement is tightly managed, and customers receive fast and reliable service. The role requires a strong grip on store discipline, manpower planning, shrinkage reduction, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee routine store activities and ensure they are carried out according to standard operating procedures.
• Maintain cleanliness, safety standards, and adherence to statutory requirements, including FSSAI and audit norms.
• Support revenue growth while keeping shrinkage, wastage, and manpower expenses under control.
• Monitor stock levels, verify GRN accuracy, enforce FIFO/FEFO practices, and conduct cycle counts regularly.
• Guide, supervise, and coordinate with the store team to keep operations running smoothly.
• Handle customer concerns promptly and ensure a quick and efficient checkout experience.
• Prepare and maintain operational MIS covering sales, wastage, shrinkage, manpower, and audits.

Experience and Requirements

The role calls for 4 to 9 years of experience in FMCG retail or QSR environments. A graduate qualification is preferred, though graduation is not mandatory. Candidates should have a solid understanding of inventory control, cost discipline, and store operations, along with strong communication and team leadership abilities. Prior experience in hard-discount retail formats will be an advantage.

Work Schedule

This is a 6-day workweek role with one rotational weekly off. The position requires flexibility to work on weekends and during peak business hours.

Location: Chennai, India

Compensation: CTC of INR 4.25 to 6.5 lakhs per annum
