The role

Fairfield City Council’s Infrastructure Services Division oversees the creation and upkeep of the city’s infrastructure assets so they continue to meet community expectations and the goals set out in the Council’s Management and Operational Plan. The division includes five branches: Civil Operations, Parks and Open Space, Fleet & Stores, Trade Services, and the Mechanical Workshop.

This opportunity sits within the Sign Writing team, which creates signs and other graphic materials for Fairfield City Council. In this role, you will be responsible for fitting signs on roads and other Council properties, helping ensure signage requirements for both Council and the public are delivered effectively.

Essential criteria

  • Current WHS General Construction Induction Card (White Card).
  • Valid Class C driver licence.
  • Hands-on experience installing signs and supporting a signage team.
  • Awareness of services such as power and communications.
  • Basic computer literacy.
  • Physical fitness to handle labouring duties.
  • Basic ability to read and interpret construction plans.
  • Working knowledge of WHS requirements and site safety practices.
  • Experience using hand tools and power tools.

Preferred qualifications

Employment conditions

  • Permanent full-time role working 76 hours per fortnight, with a rostered day off.
  • Base salary range starts at $60,239 per annum, progresses to $63,257 per annum based on demonstrated competency, and may advance to $70,522 per annum through performance progression.
  • Superannuation is paid at 11.5%.
  • Additional allowances may apply under the Local Government (State) Award 2023.
