Role overview

This Security Analyst role is based in Canada and is being promoted on behalf of a partner employer that oversees the application review and hiring process. The position is central to cybersecurity operations, with responsibility for protecting essential systems in both production and development settings. You will keep a close watch on security platforms and infrastructure, assess alerts and incidents, support compliance efforts, and help strengthen the organization’s security posture through reporting, audits, and proactive risk reduction. The role combines technical, hands-on work with day-to-day operational coordination, and also includes support for security initiatives, vendor collaboration, and the evolution of enterprise security controls.

Key accountabilities

• Keep security systems current, including the inventory and configuration of relevant hardware and software.
• Track security dashboards and tools, then examine alerts, reports, and unusual activity across environments.
• Run manual security checks such as vulnerability, antivirus, and asset scans, ensuring remediation actions are completed.
• Assist with incident handling, resolve security tickets, and escalate urgent matters when needed.
• Support audits, compliance activities, and observance of security policies and standards such as PCI and internal frameworks.
• Work closely with IT teams, vendors, and business stakeholders to deploy and improve security solutions.
• Contribute to security projects, implementations, and evaluations of new technologies.
• Prepare and maintain documentation, reporting, and operational procedures that support governance and consistency.

What we’re looking for

The ideal candidate has a solid IT and cybersecurity background, along with practical experience, strong analysis skills, and a proactive approach to managing risk. You should be comfortable operating across systems, diagnosing issues, and maintaining security controls in a complex environment.

• At least 2–3+ years of IT experience, preferably with exposure to security operations or infrastructure environments.
• A college diploma in Computer Science or an equivalent level of practical experience.
• Good working knowledge of IT infrastructure, including networks, firewalls, VPNs, servers, and endpoint devices.
• Familiarity with security frameworks, compliance expectations such as PCI, and industry best practices.
• Experience working with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure and/or AWS.
• Understanding of security tools, vulnerability scanning, monitoring systems, and incident response workflows.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills, especially under pressure.
• Clear written and verbal communication, paired with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to document procedures, prioritize tasks, and work independently in a structured setting.
• Security+, CCNA, Azure Security Engineer, or CCSP certifications are considered strong advantages.
• Scripting or coding knowledge is a plus, though it is not mandatory.
