Power BI Developer

Role overview

We are hiring a hands-on Enterprise Power BI Architect in Chennai to shape, design, and oversee BI architecture across programs and client engagements. The role is centered on creating reporting solutions that are scalable, secure, and fast, helping teams make better decisions through data.

You will partner with business stakeholders, data engineering teams, and delivery leaders to turn business goals into practical reporting frameworks. The position calls for deep Power BI knowledge along with architectural judgment, governance capability, and strong stakeholder engagement. This is an individual contributor role with responsibility for architecture and delivery guidance, not people management.

Architecture and solution design

You will be expected to design and guide Power BI dashboards, reports, and paginated reports so they match business needs. The role includes setting enterprise standards, defining reusable patterns, building semantic and data models, and creating reporting frameworks that can be used across domains.

You will also establish common KPI structures and visualization standards, while putting data protection controls in place such as Row-Level Security, workspace access rules, and broader governance practices. A major part of the role is improving performance across datasets, models, reports, and enterprise workspaces.

Governance and strategy

Another focus area is BI governance. You will define and enforce naming conventions, workspace strategy, deployment pipelines, and related standards. You will work closely with data engineering teams so reporting aligns with warehouse, lakehouse, and analytics platforms.

The role also involves reviewing current reporting setups, identifying modernization opportunities, and strengthening compliance, governance, and security practices. You will help raise analytics platform maturity and standardization across accounts.

Stakeholder engagement and leadership

You will lead architecture conversations with business stakeholders, program leaders, and clients, converting strategy and analytical requirements into an actionable roadmap. The role requires the ability to explain trade-offs, risks, scalability impacts, and corrective actions clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Support for presales, effort estimation, and strategic initiatives is also part of the job.

Delivery enablement and team support

You will guide BI developers and tech leads on data modeling, DAX optimization, and Power BI best practices. The role includes running architecture reviews, validating designs, and assessing solution quality.

You will also help introduce DevOps, CI/CD, automation, and monitoring practices for Power BI solutions, while mentoring teams to improve delivery maturity and technical excellence.

Qualifications and experience

Candidates should hold a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related discipline, or a higher qualification, along with at least 9 years of relevant experience.

Required experience includes 7+ years in business intelligence or data analytics and 5+ years of hands-on Power BI work in enterprise settings. Strong knowledge of advanced data modeling, DAX tuning, Power Query, Row-Level Security, Power BI governance, and SQL is expected. Experience with Azure- or SQL Server-based analytics platforms and implementing DevOps or CI/CD pipelines for Power BI is also required.

Good-to-have exposure includes Microsoft Fabric, data lakes, lakehouse architecture, modern analytics platforms, monitoring and observability frameworks, automation for BI solutions, and large-scale or multi-account delivery environments.
