Role overview
This full-time non-management position is part of the Engineering & Facilities team at a hotel property in Dubai Marina, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The role focuses on handling guest repair needs, carrying out preventive upkeep, and supporting the smooth operation of building systems and guest areas.
Key duties
- Handle guest repair requests promptly and work with guests or customers to solve maintenance concerns.
- Carry out preventive maintenance on tools, kitchen equipment, and mechanical-room equipment, including cleaning and lubrication.
- Inspect tools, machines, and equipment visually and transport necessary equipment such as tools and radios.
- Locate and operate shut-off valves for equipment and building utilities when needed.
- Track maintenance inventory and request parts and supplies as required.
- Share daily work updates and any issues with other shifts using approved communication channels and standards.
- Maintain broad working knowledge, or build it as needed, in areas such as air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical and mechanical systems, plumbing, pneumatic and electronic controls, carpentry, finish work, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, and general building systems.
- Complete surface preparation, painting, minor drywall work, wood trim repairs, light bulb replacement, A/C filter replacement, and full cleanup of work areas after repairs or painting.
- Test, diagnose, and perform basic repairs on equipment, plumbing issues such as blocked toilets and drains, electrical items including lamps, extension cords, switches, outlets, vacuum cleaners, internet devices, and other guestroom fixtures.
- Program televisions and carry out general housekeeping and engineering inventory tasks.
- Use the lockout/tagout process before starting maintenance work.
- Repair interior and exterior landscaping and service outdoor irrigation sprinklers.
- Use basic computer functions, including entering air-handler schedules and changing temperatures.
- Follow company policies, safety procedures, and security standards; report hazards, accidents, injuries, and maintenance issues; complete required safety training and certifications; and store flammable materials correctly.
- Maintain a clean, professional appearance and protect confidential information and company property.
- Welcome guests in line with company standards, respond to their needs, support guests with disabilities, and show sincere appreciation.
- Build respectful working relationships, help the team meet shared goals, and communicate clearly and professionally.
- Perform physical tasks such as lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and placing items up to 50 pounds without assistance, and heavier items with support.
- Move through stairs, ramps, and ladders, and bend, reach, twist, stoop, and crouch as needed.
- Use computers to access and record work-related information.
- Take on other reasonable duties assigned by the employer.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
- Some background in general maintenance, including exterior and interior surface preparation and painting, is preferred.
- Experience working in hotel engineering or maintenance is an advantage.
- No supervisory experience is required.
- A valid driver’s license is required.
