About Convective
Convective is a venture fund focused on backing the technologies that strengthen resilience in the face of climate-related disasters across the United States. The firm invests in early-stage founders working in areas such as insurance, utilities, infrastructure, and emergency response.
Its ecosystem includes several initiatives: the Red Sky Summit, an annual convening for wildfire and resilience leaders spanning fire services, utilities, insurance, technology, research, and public policy; Disasterproof, a podcast and video series featuring founders, scientists, policymakers, and operators shaping the future of disaster resilience; and Updraft, a professional network of people working across the disaster resilience space.
Role Overview
Convective is hiring a marketing associate to take ownership of content and communications across its channels. The person in this role will help grow the Disasterproof audience, support event execution, and keep the Updraft community engaged. This position is intended for someone who wants hands-on responsibility and meaningful work in climate resilience.
Core Responsibilities
You will manage content and communications across social channels, podcasts, events, and community touchpoints.
- Oversee Convective’s social presence on X/Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram for Convective, Disasterproof, and the Red Sky Summit.
- Turn podcast and event material into short clips, quote graphics, and social posts.
- Draft and refine episode notes, newsletters, blog content, and LinkedIn articles.
- Build and maintain a consistent content calendar.
- Identify and research potential guests for Disasterproof from the founder, science, policy, and operator communities.
- Handle guest outreach and booking coordination from initial contact through recording.
- Manage episode assets such as titles, descriptions, and thumbnails across publishing platforms.
- Support episode launch and ongoing promotion.
- Assist with planning and running Convective events, including the Red Sky Summit, covering logistics, promotion, and on-site support.
- Prepare invitations, run-of-show documents, and post-event summaries.
- Maintain the Updraft member database, keeping records, profiles, contacts, and tags current.
- Support outreach efforts that expand and activate the network.
- Help with Updraft newsletters and member communications.
- Track performance across podcast platforms, social channels, and email.
- Compile recurring performance updates and identify opportunities to improve growth.
- Use analytics to guide future content and distribution decisions.
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will have 2 to 4 years of experience in marketing, content, media, or a closely related area. Strong writing ability is important, along with the flexibility to adapt tone and style for different formats, from short social posts to longer briefing-style documents. The role also calls for strong organization, initiative, and the ability to handle several workstreams at once.
Comfort with Canva, social scheduling tools, and AI-assisted workflows is expected. A genuine interest in climate resilience, disaster technology, startups, and media is important. Experience with podcast production, event work, or community/network management would be an added advantage.
Why This Role
- Contribute to a mission-driven effort focused on one of today’s most important challenges: climate resilience.
- Take direct ownership of real channels and campaigns.
- Build relationships across the startup and climate technology ecosystem.
- Work in a small team where your contributions are visible and meaningful.
How to Apply
Applicants should send a short note introducing themselves along with a few samples of writing, social media posts, or other content they have created to [email protected]. A formal cover letter is not required; candidates should simply explain their interest and include examples of their work.
