Role Overview
The Manager, Talent Management will oversee the organization’s talent management function and related programs, with the goal of strengthening performance, capability, and a growth-focused culture. In this role, you will guide a team of Talent Management Consultants, shape and advance talent programs, and help deliver solutions that support business priorities, organizational effectiveness, and change adoption.
This position involves leading multiple talent projects and programs of different sizes, timelines, and levels of complexity. A key part of the role is building and executing change management approaches that help talent initiatives succeed and stick.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct the ongoing development and rollout of enterprise talent programs and projects, beginning with talent review, succession planning, performance management, and rewards.
- Create the program structure, implementation approach, and governance needed to launch and sustain talent management initiatives, including committees and working groups.
- Analyze internal program data along with external and internal market insights to spot trends and recommend improvements that align with enterprise and functional goals.
- Prepare clear and compelling executive-level reports, including materials used for Board of Directors updates.
- Coordinate communications for both internal and external audiences, translating complex topics into language suited to sponsors, stakeholders, end users, executives, and board members.
- Apply change management methods to drive stakeholder engagement, improve adoption, and measure program effectiveness.
- Lead planning and delivery of projects against project plans, go-live milestones, and business readiness activities, while tracking outcomes and lessons learned.
- Coach, mentor, and develop Talent Management Consultants and other team members to strengthen performance and capability.
- Build trusted relationships with cross-functional partners and align closely with teams such as Organizational Effectiveness, Talent Acquisition, Talent Development & Learning, Diversity Inclusion & Belonging, Total Rewards, and HR Technology.
- Stay current on talent management trends, tools, and practices, and use that knowledge to provide benchmarking, consultation, gap analysis, facilitation, and solution development.
- Use strong business acumen and systems thinking to align talent management strategies across functions and support business priorities while reducing risk.
Qualifications
- At least 8 years of experience and a bachelor’s degree, including 1 or more years in a supervisory or management role. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may also be considered.
- Preferred background includes a BA/BS in a related field, a master’s degree, 8+ years in HR business consulting, and 1+ year leading HR business partners, OECs, or a related function.
- Strong experience developing and managing enterprise-wide programs in performance management, succession planning, and organizational effectiveness.
- Proven ability to work within a matrixed HR delivery model and shared services/COE environment.
- Ability to break down ambiguous issues, source relevant data, perform complex analysis, and identify practical recommendations.
- Strong skills in quantitative and qualitative analysis, synthesis, and theme extraction from multiple data sources.
- Track record of influencing senior leaders at VP level and above, including handling negotiations, conflict resolution, and constructive disagreement.
- Deep business understanding with the ability to interpret complex data and translate it into strategic recommendations.
- Experience leading major change in fast-moving or transformation-heavy environments, including helping organizations move away from legacy HR practices.
- Demonstrated leadership capability, political awareness, integrity, accountability, and the ability to build trust.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, listening, empathy, collaboration, and group facilitation skills.
- Experience designing and executing large-scale change plans with sustained adoption and implementation success.
Compensation
Pay Grade 23 with a national base pay range of $106,400 to $230,600. Final compensation may vary depending on knowledge, skills, abilities, relevant experience, education, certifications, job qualifications, local wage conditions, and internal equity.
