Role overview

Belgravia Leisure is hiring qualified lifeguards for the Lakeside Leisure Centre in Greenway, ACT. This opportunity is aimed at people who care strongly about water safety, enjoy working with the public, and are comfortable guiding others in a busy aquatic setting. What the job involves

You will oversee the everyday running of the pool area and help maintain a safe, welcoming environment for everyone using the facility. The position calls for a lively, approachable person who communicates well, delivers excellent customer service, and can work confidently with people of different ages, abilities, cultures, and needs.

Team and work pattern

The employer has several casual openings available, with the possibility of moving into a full-time role for suitable team members. Flexibility is important, as the work may include weekends, public holidays, mornings, evenings, and additional hours during busy seasonal periods.

Skills and attributes

• Clear and effective spoken communication
• Working knowledge of occupational health and safety as it applies to aquatic facilities
• Ability to stay available for early, late, and weekend shifts
• Comfort working alone as well as contributing to a team
• Strong focus on safety and customer experience
• Ability to engage positively with people from diverse backgrounds and needs

Required credentials

Applicants must hold a current Level 2 First Aid certificate, a current CPR certificate, a current Pool Lifeguard Certificate, a National Police Check, and a Working with Vulnerable People clearance. A Working with Children check is also required for successful candidates.

Nice to have

Prior experience in a similar lifeguard or aquatic operations role is considered an advantage, though it is not mandatory. A current Pool Operations Certificate is also preferred but not essential.
