Role overview
Southern Health-Santé Sud is hiring a permanent Laundry Aide for the Portage Regional Health Centre in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba. This is a full-time, in-person position within the Environmental Services department and is part of the CUPE union.
The successful candidate will support linen handling operations by moving soiled and clean linen to the right areas, keeping accurate records, and helping maintain laundry production and storage spaces. The role also includes ensuring equipment remains clean and operates properly.
The position calls for sound judgment, the ability to set work priorities, and the confidence to decide on suitable actions when unusual situations arise. Work is expected to align with the organization’s mission, vision, values, and policies.

Experience and education
Applicants should have prior experience working in an industrial or commercial laundry setting. A completed Grade 10 education is required under the Manitoba standard. A different mix of education and experience may also be considered.
Skills and qualifications
Strong English verbal and written communication is needed, along with the ability to follow both spoken and written instructions. The role requires comfort working with laundry chemicals and cleaning products according to manufacturer directions, basic computer ability, independence, teamwork, problem-solving, flexibility, and the ability to build positive working relationships. Candidates must also respect confidentiality across paper, digital, and other formats.
Because of the region’s cultural diversity, the ability to respect and support a diverse population is required. For designated bilingual roles, fluency in both official languages is essential.
Physical and travel requirements
The job requires the ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the role. There are no hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions noted. The incumbent may occasionally need to work evenings and weekends and may also be required to travel to other regional facilities as needed.
