Role overview

McDermott is seeking a driver/operator to oversee contractor fuel and water bowser activities on site. The role focuses on safe, accurate, and timely refueling of approved plant equipment and generators, while following project policies, procedures, and site practices. Site driver support may also be required when needed.

Fuel bowser duties

• Operate the project fuel bowser dispensing system confidently and in line with site procedures.
• Verify that contractor and subcontractor equipment meets project operating criteria and policy requirements.
• Complete and maintain all fuel logs and data sheets accurately throughout the process.
• Dispense the correct fuel type and quantity based on each equipment specification.
• Carry out daily fuel-level checks and keep fuel usage records up to date.
• Control fuel issuance carefully to reduce wastage, spills, and theft risks.
• Inspect the vehicle and related equipment each day, including tires, brakes, hoses, nozzles, and pump condition.
• Escalate mechanical defects immediately for repair or maintenance.
• Keep the bowser tidy, organized, and ready for operation at all times.
• Follow grounding procedures to avoid static discharge incidents.
• Handle fluid spill situations using the assigned spill kits and the project environmental rules.
• Send daily fuel receipt and dispensing records to the Driver Supervisor or Logistics Coordinator.

Water bowser duties

• Work with the MDR Construction Superintendent to control dust in designated MDR work areas.
• Perform daily inspections of the water bowser and associated equipment, checking the pump, pressure system, tank condition, spray bars, and tires.
• Maintain the bowser in a clean and mechanically sound condition.
• Report faults or breakdowns to the Driver Supervisor without delay.
• Drive and operate the water bowser in accordance with MDR and site HSE standards.
• Take part in morning toolbox meetings and safety briefings.
• Keep accurate records of water usage and the areas serviced.
• Inform the Driver Supervisor about water shortages or any operational limitations.

Qualifications and experience

• Valid heavy truck driving licence for Class C and C1 vehicles.
• Training or certification in fuel and water operations.
• At least 2 years of hands-on experience operating fuel and water bowsers.
• Practical knowledge of fire safety, spill response, and HSE requirements.
• Strong communication and record-keeping ability.
• Project-site experience is an advantage, though not mandatory.
• Good command of English for reading, writing, and speaking.
• Self-driven, dependable, and able to complete tasks on time.
• Strong attention to operational details and safety.
• Comfortable working with limited supervision.
• Professional when dealing with other project staff.
