Activities Coordinator

Role overview

Thornfield Care Home sits on the edge of Seaton, a coastal town on the celebrated Jurassic Coast. The home is registered to support 52 residents.

In this position, you will help improve everyday life by creating and running activities that are engaging, meaningful and centred around each person. The aim is to support wellbeing, independence and social connection.

You will be responsible for organising and delivering a balanced mix of group sessions and one-to-one activities, shaped by individual interests, abilities and care requirements. A key part of the role is building trusting relationships so you can better understand what people enjoy and make participation inclusive for everyone, including residents living with dementia.

As part of the wider care team, you will contribute to a warm, active and uplifting setting where people feel included, appreciated and connected. The role is suitable for both experienced applicants and people who are new to care, as full training and ongoing support will be provided.

Contract and pay

• Hourly rate: £12.71 per hour
• Working pattern: 20 to 40 hours each week
• Annual leave: 5.6 weeks on a full-time contract basis
• Employment extras: paid DBS check, pension scheme and uniform supplied

What we are looking for

We are seeking someone who brings energy, creativity and good organisation to the role, along with a sincere interest in supporting older adults.

Strong communication skills, confidence in working with people, and the ability to plan enjoyable activities are essential. You should be comfortable working on your own as well as collaborating with others in a team environment.

Experience in activities or a similar position would be helpful, but it is not essential. Applicants with transferable experience from hospitality, events, childcare or community-based work are also encouraged to apply.
