Role Summary
The Accounts Manager will be a permanent, in-office member of the team in Tororo, Eastern Region, Uganda. This position is responsible for leading day-to-day accounting work, including oversight of the general ledger, tracking payables and receivables, and making sure financial entries are recorded correctly and on time. The role includes producing financial statements and reports, contributing to budgeting and forecasting, reconciling bank and ledger balances, and supporting both internal and external audit processes.
In addition, the Accounts Manager will work closely with leadership to share financial observations, help ensure compliance with applicable laws and company rules, and identify opportunities to improve processes. The position may also involve guiding junior accounting team members, keeping financial records well organized, and addressing questions from internal teams and outside stakeholders.
Qualifications and Skills
- Solid grounding in financial accounting, management of the general ledger, and reconciliation of accounts.
- Ability to contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and the preparation of reports used for decision-making.
- Understanding of accounting standards, tax rules, and internal control requirements to support compliance.
- Hands-on experience with accounting systems and spreadsheet applications, along with basic data analysis ability.
- Clear communication and strong people skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues on-site in Tororo.
- Good organization, time management, and a strong eye for detail and accuracy in records.
- Previous experience in an accounts or finance leadership role is a strong advantage.
- Educational background in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a similar discipline; professional certifications are considered beneficial.
